Products » Liquid Nitriding
Very hard and wear resistant surfaces are produced on a wide variety of steels and cast irons. The relatively low temperatures used permit casing of previously hardened steels or cast irons with little or no loss of core hardness and minimum dimensional change.

#90 CASING SALT An economical, cyanide base salt which produces hard wear resistance properties for high speed tool steels in low dragout and / or low production use. It will maintain optimum operating characteristics over long periods of time, and provide an active operating bath on short notice. Casing is achieved at lower temperatures than for carburizing or carbonitriding where iron nitride is selectively formed as a thin case on the tool surface.
